Renaltube, is part of a collective initiative of three research groups of the Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias, Hospital Univerisitario de Cruces de Baracaldo and the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which in 2008 set out to create a platform To promote both clinical and molecular knowledge of a type of rare diseases such as primary tubulopathies.
The request of a Coordinated Project of Technological Development in Health to the ISCiii in 2009, allowed the creation and implementation of a virtual infrastructure, to collect information about patients and families with primary tubulopathies, as well as to offer the possibility of addressing Their genetic diagnosis, having as intermediaries the medical professionals themselves. From the beginning, the projection of the platform was conceived at an international level, counting the own web page with the contents in both Spanish and English.
In 2011, the ISCiii's grant of a Coordinated Health Research Project allowed the extension of 6 to 11 tubulopathies, thus becoming Renaltube up to the present time.
A third grant from the ISCiii within the framework of the Coordinated Health Research Project has been the fundamental support for the incorporation of a fourth research group from the University Hospital Valle de Hebrón into the team.
In the present, Renaltube has already begun to generate quality scientific production, has advanced as a diagnostic tool and has become a reference database to encourage feed-back among professionals within the framework of primary tubulopathies.
Together we will continue to ADVANCE.
